Philip Glass’s études for solo piano — written to improve the composer’s own fluency at the keyboard — have developed legs as concert pieces. Not surprisingly, given their melodic and rhythmic attractions. Vicky Chow is just the pianist to play them — and here she’ll run through the pieces on her new recording of Book 1 (of two).

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: In person, great pita, good stuff to put on it at Bedouin Tent. Streaming at home, this seems to call for a (“a”?????? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Martini: pour 2 oz. Gin and 1 oz. dry Vermouth into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into a (very) chilled Martini glass or coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist or an olive.
