Does the Berlin Philharmonic — a fabulous band: when you hear them you literally can’t believe it — squeeze onto the List because on Friday night they (under their enigmatic Music Director Kirill Patrenko) are playing Andrew Norman? They do — but the KorngoldSymphony also on that program won’t be pretty (or rather, it will be pretty, at least in parts — and overstated and clichéd and kind of reactionary). But if I were you, I’d try to check out the MahlerSeventh on Thursday and Saturday.
