The fabulous Leonidas Kovakos joins Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra to play the new violin concerto by Unsuk Chin, whose music just sounds good (which I’m sure is her intent). Ives’s cosmically sparse The Unanswered Question should be a good lead-in to a concerto whose title translates as “Shards of Silence”. The program concludes with Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, a real hoot — but not, one fears, in the hands of this rather sober conductor.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Bet you didn’t know there’s a credible taqueira/cocktail lounge virtually around the corner from Carnegie Hall that serves late: Vida Verde.
