The local fave string quartet is joined by mandolinist Avi Avital for Boccherini’s evocative La Musica Notturna Ritratta di Madrid (boy do I love that piece) and Oswaldo Golijov’s arrangement of an affecting Yiddish folk tune. Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte is always good to hear; and there’s something by List fave Lev “Ljova” Zhurbin. All that and more!
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: In person, South African food and wine at Kaia Wine Bar. Streaming at home, mix a Madrid 43: pour 2-1/2 oz. Bourbon and 3/4 oz. Licor 43, with 1 dash Angostura bitters, into a rocks glass over ice. Stir. Rub the rim of the glass with an orange twist and then use the orange twist as a garnish along with a cocktail cherry.
