Alvin Singleton is one excellent composer in the orchestral Post-Minimalist vein (meaning he’s more John Adams than William Duckworth) who is suddenly, finally, getting played as much as he’s long deserved to. The Momenta Quartet just recorded all Singleton’s string quartets, and will play one tonight. Also stuff by the supernal Yusef Lateef and by Hilliard Green, whom I don’t know but am eager to find out about.
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: I am pleased to report that Symposium — the first Greek restaurant Your Compiler ever ate in, in some distant decade — made it through The Lockdown.
