Aaron Siegel is the very picture of the kind of serious fun composer this List champions. His chamber operas are always great listening: funny, friendly but biting, extremely well crafted without wearing the craft on their sleeves. So here’s a song cycle written for superstar countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, accompanied by percussionist Sae Hashimoto on vibes. I mean . . . . (The rather extreme ticket price also gets you a pre-show whiskey tasting that’s lame but unlimited. There’s a dress rehearsal the night before [WEDNESDAY, JULY 20] for “only” $60 that also gets you the unlimited whiskey but is subject to the usual interruptions, repetitions, and imperfections of a rehearsal.)

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Sea Witch: a good bar, with good pub grub — and a giant aquarium!
