The centerpiece of this show is the reliably enthralling pairing of Takemitsu’s evocative flute-viola-harp trio Toward the Sea (nice to hear on the actual water!) and the work that directly inspired it, Debussy’s Sonata for Flute, Viola, and Harp (which your compiler has personally decided is the single greatest chamber piece of the 20th Century) (the world cares). Lots of other good stuff, too.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: After listening to the water music on an actual barge on the actual water, you can eat (very well) on an actual barge on the actual water at River Café.
