Jointed by Levy Lorenzo on electronics, Yarn/Wire stalwart Ning Yu plays an expanded piano recital featuring the fascinating Belgian composer Stefan Prins, who has never written an expected note or sound (and his works involve sounds more than notes). The same goes for our own David Bird — and both those composers are not uninterested in the performative aspects of performance, making for extremely compelling live experiences. Speaking of compelling live experiences, Germany’s Michael Beil contributes a piece for pianist without piano (and live video and tape).
