Imagine: a Christopher Williams performing in New York City who does’t play the trumpet. The choreographer Christopher Williams is setting out to Queer the Diaghilev canon (to be honest, some of the pieces need it less than others). Jeux, of course, is the tennis match set to Debussy, originally choreographed by Nijinsky (ya know). A Child’s Tale is Massine’s (ya know) Contes Russes, set to Lyadov. This will be good.
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Cookie-cutter American reduction of French bistro at Steak Frites Le Bistro, but with a surprisingly good wine program (although they’re not shy with the mark-ups).
