On Friday, the smart pianist Aaron Parks, who’s always found a way to credibly integrate his Indie Rock tastes into plausible jazz, leads a knockout sextet. On Saturday, Parks and a bunch of surprise friends celebrate his 40th birthday (presumably the showtimes have been pushed up early to give Parks a chance to really celebrate afterward).

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: In person, José Andés cocktails and bar snacks at the sky-high Nubeluz. Streaming at home, let’s think about the thing Aaron Parks doesn’t want to upon entering middle age, by paying tribute to Parks’s fellow Seattlean, the recently deceased mixology legend Murray Stenson, with the forgotten cocktail Stenson memorably put back on the map, the Last Word: pour 3/4 oz. each of Gin, green Chartreuse, Maraschino liqueur, and lime juice into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
