Shabazz Palaces — essentially Palaceer Lazaro f/k/a Butterfly of Digable Planets r/k/a (really known as) Ishmael Butler — make Alt Rap so abstracted that it’s almost beyond Alt. But when you experience beats and textures this compelling, this sheerly interesting, you can only raise your voice in awed thanks. Chicago-to-Brooklyn Alt R&B diva keiyaA is no slouch, either.
