A set by The First Couple Of Brooklyn Jazz, each of them a splendid player and thinker, saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock and drummer Tom Rainey. Then things get weird. Hypersurface is a trio led by Drew Wesley on guitar and “objects”, with the not inconsiderable input of Lester St. Lewis on cellos. Eli Wallace leads a quartet from his bench at the piano with “objects”. This music does not sound like anything you could expect.
