A panel discussion of the subject matter of Brooke Wentze’s admittedly fascinating-seeming new book about the Downtown performing arts scene in the ‘80s isn’t something we’d List, as we deal with performance around here (although we are pretty curious to see whether the book will address the circumstance that vanguard artists, unlike say laborers, actually did receive the benefits of trickle-down economics in the decade that saw the establishment of the corporatized avant-garde). But live performances by such period avant-luminaries as Elliott Sharp, Shelley Hirsch, Fast Forward, and Don Byron? That’s This List’s meat and drink!
