Akram Khan started as a Kathak dancer and then began to incorporate European Modern-into-Post-Modern and a lot other stuff as well. Maybe too much stuff? I always wish I liked his work more. Lately he’s been tinkering with classics, which creates its own kind of interest. So this reimagination by this Bangladeshi-British artist of a Colonialist interpretation of India is compelling at least in theory.
