This vocal/instrumental piece is still David Lang’s best so far out of a distinguished catalogue: musically surprising, emotionally affecting — and a really great listen. One can only say that the vocal/instrumental ensemble Ekmeles should do it full justice.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: There’s a wine-and-cheese reception starting an hour before each show — but I never tire of complaining that, for the high price charged for these concerts, the abominable quality of the wine and the cheese is deplorable. In any event, good burgers at At The Wallace — but most exciting of all, I’ve heard it reported on good authority that the fried cheese curds are as good as in Wisconsin.
