The miraculous composer/percussionist Thyshawn Sorey joins with the mighty JACK Quartet to give the local premiere of a piece whose title unites Sorey’s jazz tendencies with his Morton Feldman tendencies: For Grachan Moncur II (Everything Changes, Nothing Changes II) (and is this List ever gratified that Sorey appears to be as huge an admirer of the great and greatly underappreciated trombonist/composer as we are here!).

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: In person, fun South African food and wine at Kaia Wine Bar. Streaming at home, have a Bone: pour 2 oz. Rye and 1 tsp. each of lime juice and Simple Syrup, with 3 dashes of Tabasco Sauce (I’d swap in Crystal myself), into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a chilled rocks glass.
