This chamber version of John Adams’s Latinx-focused Nativity oratorio, with the diffuse book winnowed down by Julia Bullock (who will also grace us with her fabulous singing, as will the also fabulous Anthony Roth Constanzo and Davóne Tines), can’t be called a reduction: everyone who’s seen it seems to agree it’s better than the sprawling original (you can make the comparison yourself when the MET puts on the full original version next year).

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: It’s hard to look at its menu without yawning, but Marlow Bistro is fine.
