I always mean to ask Leila Adu whether she views her “classical” composing and her “pop” songwriting as fundamentally separate activities, the way Leonard Bernstein did a few generations ago, or (much more likely) she takes the Post-Modern view that it’s all writing music. Yeah, I’m sure it’s the latter. In any event, tonight’s show, showcasing her new single, will be the side that skews “pop”. As for Diamond Field, maybe it would be alright to tell them it’s not the ‘80s any more.
