Darian Donovan Thomas composes and plays (on many different instruments) droning yet communicative pieces that are good to listen to. Kirin McElwaine drones, too, on her cello — a little too portentously, if you ask me. Conversely, Talk Bazaar’s gleaming Pop is hard to resist.
