A matched set of string instruments made in Astoria in the 1890s gets a rare outing. The Catalyst Quartet won’t be playing music of the period, though. They’ll play Jessie Montgomery’s titanic Strum, some Philip Glass, a vignette for string quartet by Gershwin, some Price if they must — and Haydn’s “Sunrise”, cuz it’s GREAT.
