This is once again stretching past the usual boundaries of this List. But a chance to hear the very fine Quartetto di Cremona play on priceless historic instruments from the Met’s collection — which have never been played together before — is hard to pass up. Especially when the two violin’s are by Cremona hometown hero Stradivarius. Anyway, the Quartetto will be playing Webern’s pre-atonal Langsamer Satz: that’s almost Listy. And the rest of the program — the string quartet arrangements of Bach’s Art of the Fugue, and Schubert’s Death and the Maiden Quartet — is well worth your time and attention. Hell, they’re towering peaks of European culture.
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Maybe recreating a Viennese “American” cocktail bar in actual America is a step too meta — but everybody who goes to Jeremy’s is just happy to have a good cocktail bar on the UES again.
