A puzzling show. What does it mean to “preview” a work? Only one piece on the program is identified as a “work-in-progress”. One of them is being premiered (at Roulette) tomorrow. Does that mean that the people hearing it tonight aren’t hearing it? Or don’t count as an audience? Anyway, the composers whose work The Orchestra of the S.E.M. Ensemble is “previewing” are Petr Kotik, Michael Byron, Philip Ellis Foster, and Ian Davis.
