How many great composers did we first hear at MATA Festivals over the years? This year MATA has enlisted Bang on a Can offshoot Found Sound Nation to help out with programming. And the programming shakes out like this: Wednesday, Deep Listening and its contents; Thursday, Contemporary Classical that is informed by Pop usages (AKA ensembles that sound like bands); Friday, works about people/the human experience; Saturday, Global.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: In person, a new bar around the corner from Roulette! The Little Pig. Streaming at home, welcome Summer with a White Negroni: pour 1 oz. each of Gin, Suze, and Lillet Blanc (I’d swap in Kina L'Aéro d'Or myself) into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe. Express a grapefruit twist into the drink and then use the twist as garnish.
