Is Four Tet this List’s ATF electronica artist? Yeah I think he is. Punchy beats, textures moving from grainy to luminous, a strong melodic sense that he has the sense not to overindulge, a taste for folk and jazz that makes his electronica human. And, unlike most of his contemporaries (say, an artist who named himself after the second-greatest American novel), after 25 years he’s still good, still significant, still making a contribution.
