Audible Spirits reconfigure the American Songbook by singing and playing along with manipulated pre-recorded Jamey Aebersold Jazz Play-A-Long tracks (you’ve heard them in subway stations). Wild Awake not only has the advantage of Darren Johnston’s witty compositions, trumpet, and voice, but is graced with Dayna Stephens’s high-powered sax as well. Rossi-Hess-Moran is an intriguing keyboards-percussion/woodwinds/vibes trio.
