I’m sure they bothered to give a name to this recital because it’s so funny to say “solo double bass”. In any even, Henry Fraser is a monster player who can improvise fruitfully and also composes beautifully (listen to his song-form band The Full Salon some time: great stuff) — which is important when you’re a master of an instrument with almost no solo repertoire.
