Cumbia made by immigrants from Colombia and other points south, in many cases incorporating influences they found here. So on the one hand you get Maraca Bruja’s pretty music straight recreation of Gaita Colombiana, a vivacious regional pipes-and-drums music from the Caribbean coast; and on the other you get Tropa Magica’s Punk-Psych Cumbia. And there’s lots more.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: If you go to Maraca Bruja in the Good Life community garden in Bushwick on Friday, there’ll be food vendors on site. If you go to hear Tropa Magica at TV Eye in Ridgewood on Saturday, gotta be Rolo’s.
