Electronic musician Phong Tran is one of this List’s very favorites: his music is exuberant but with an underlying rigor. Then there’s guitarist/composer Dustin Carlson, who’s at least three musicians in one: he does spacey songform Americana; he plays (rocky) jazz; and he composes creditable Contemporary Classical. Whichever of them shows up tonight, it’s all good! As for Julia Pantinella, if you’re told someone started out as a trained Flamenco singer and then decided to explore her own Sicilian musical roots, you’d be intrigued right?
