I’ve had my problems with Stairwell Theater productions in the past: they can seem amateurish in a bad way. But Sarah Kane was one of the most piercing — you could even say acrid if that didn’t come across as pejorative (to say that this one might be the mildest of her plays only shows you how crushing the others are) (but her works are beautifully written as well) — playwrights of the last years of the last century, and every performance of the few plays she left us is an event.
