Two bands that do jazz or jazz-adjacent improvised music that’s quite melodic. Ace drummer Chase Elodia’s Perennials are more songform (with the wonderful Claire Dickson handling vocals) (although one listen and you can tell this is a band led by a drummer). Drinking Bird are spacier.
