When the distinguished Dutch pianist Kees Wieringa’s wife was in the last stages of a pregnancy, the great Dutch Minimalist composer Simeon ten Holt felt her stomach and, sensing the baby was constantly moving, decided it would be a dancer. When the baby was born, ten Holt dedicated what would turn out to be his last piano piece — a dance — to him. Ten Holt was right: the baby became a dancer. Tonight, Winter Wieringa joins his father in performing the dance conceived for him before he was born. Some American Minimalists you might have heard of share the program.
