The great saxophonist/conceptualist Matana Roberts had to cancel her residency on account of COVID. So The Stone gave each of her four nights to an artist who hasn’t yet had a residency (yeah there are some left): Yoona Kim of the avant-Korean squad; happily ubiquitous bassist Luke Stewart; next-gen vibes player Salendis Johnson; and Sana Nagano’s Math-Rock band Atomic Pigeons (wait she’s not conceivably old enough to have heard of Atomic Rooster).

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: No one better to take over the old Café Loup space than NYC Front of House vet Michael Cechhi-Azzolina with his American Bistro Cecchi’s.
