Avant-shredder Ava Mendoza isn’t playing tonight. Rather, she presents a show that she curated — and if you like the kind of music she makes, you’ll probably like the kind of music she programs. Tonight we have trumpeter Chris Williams and avant-gayageum wiz DeYeon Kim, two crucial players on the current New York City scene, playing together. A solo set by Harmolodic drummer Calvin Weston. And, oh yeah, a duo of two giants of Free Jazz, William Parker and Cooper-Moore.
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: It remains very big news that Windsor Terrace’s Dog Day Afternoon (located on the very block the movie was filmed on) is now serving their supernal Chicago-Style Hot Dogs at a new Williamsburg bar (H&H Reserve) at reasonable hours!
