People scared of Cage — they still exist for this most benign of composers! — should hear this set of pieces, where a prepared piano delightfully becomes a percussion orchestra. Pianist Adam Tendler should be his usual perceptive persuasive self.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: There’s a wine-and-cheese reception starting an hour before each show — but I never tire of complaining that, for the high price charged for these concerts, the abominable quality of the wine and the cheese is deplorable. In any event, there are good burgers nearby at At The Wallace — but most exciting of all, I’ve heard it reported on good authority that the fried cheese curds are as good as in Wisconsin.
