Everybody on the Downtown Scene knows poet Yuko Otomo. And her poetry’s combination of formal/structural experimentation and sheer exuberance exactly matches the Free Jazz she loves so much — and of which pianist Matthew Schipp is a stellar, indeed galactic, exponent. This List doesn’t go much for spoken-word-with-improvised-jazz-backup. But it sure goes for this.
