Mary Kouyoumdjian has collaborated with her fellow North American-Armenian (believe me, that identity is important to both of them), the filmmaker Atom Egoyan, before; now she’s adapting him for an opera. Adoration was a typical Egoyan movie, with an ending showing you that causes, consequences, and circumstances can often be surprising. So can Kouyoumdjian’s music.
