The beginning of series curated by trombonist Kalia Vandever, who is one of the people really moving jazz forward into realms that don’t sound like what you’ve heard before (in her case, uniquely restful, like post-post-Bop without edges, or Ambient Minimalism with a pulse). For this first edition, she couldn’t have chosen better co-explorers than guitarist Rafiq Bhatia and violinist Darian Donovan Thomas.
