Choreographer Justin Peck and and the great playwright Jackie Sibblies “Fairview” Drury took Sufjan Stevens’s terrific album Illinois and crafted a story around its songs, which Peck then choreographed. I’m not much for imposing narratives on record albums — but this is quite an album. When they get to the song about losing a loved one to cancer (a subject I know a thing or two about), I don’t think I’ll be able to contain myself.
