There’s no bassoonist quite like Joy Guidry, whose work would be too mawkishly self-expressive if it weren’t so engaging (and musically valid). Backup is Kyle Kidd on vocals, Luke Stewart on bass, and Jessie Cox on percussion: what’s not to love?

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: In person, hand rolls at KazuNori. Streaming at home, have a Beatriz: pour 1-1/2 oz. Sotol, 1 oz. Cocchi Americano, and 1/4 oz. Saint-Germain, with 2 dashes of orange bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
