Can I be honest with you? I love Bach unreservedly, but I’ve never cottoned to his Orchestral Suites, of which we’ll hear the third (with its famous “Air on a G String”) this afternoon: too stately. OTOH, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Handel’s later set of Concerti Grossi, of which we’ll hear the first: tunes that stick to your ribs.
