The New Music group Decoda presents a set of arrangements for mixed ensemble of pieces by Barber, Bartók, Bach, Beatles, Messiaen, Morricone,Rimsky, and Piazzolla.  In other words, perfect for a Summer evening:  light but not mindless.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  Go to Keens Chophouse (I refuse to go along with the name change to "Steakhouse").  Go to the bar and gape at the painting of the naked lady:  you don't need to get a table in any of the dining rooms.  It's Summer, so maybe you feel the famous "mutton" chop would be a bit much.  Order the roast beef hash:  one of the pure pleasures of living in New York.  In the Summer, I usually drink Martinis when I'm at a bar that specializes in the classics -- but this bar serves some of the best Manhattans in the City, so let's forget the season and go with that.  And maybe it'll have cooled down enough outside by the end of your meal to justify a snifter of scotch (their selection is legendary) for dessert.
