Raphael Saadiq is a very prince of Neo-Soul, resurrecting beloved tropes of soul past in a lively manner that carries not a whiff of pastiche.  Listen to his The Way I See It and hear what may be the greatest classic Motown album ever made -- except that it's decades after the fact and not on Motown.  How is he live?  Well, his set at the Afropunk Festival in Brooklyn at the end of last August had me smiling all the way through September.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  A Martini, some Cherrystones, and a Cadillac burger at P.J. Clarke's would be just the thing, wouldn't they?
