This list focuses on performing arts, with the food stuff being just incidental. But I don't have any live performance recommendations tonight, and this one-night special-event dinner is kind of major. Edouardo Jordan, whose riffs on African-American Southern cooking at JuneBaby in Seattle (cuz where else would you go for African-American Southern cooking?) have receiveduniversal adulation, is doing a one-night guest-chef stint at Olmsted in Brooklyn. No reservations taken: strictly walk-in. It's going to be an absolute clusterfuck, with limited availability and long waits all night -- but it'll still be easier than taking a plane to the other side of the continent (and it isn't all that easy to get into JuneBaby once you're in Seattle, either). Totally worth the trouble.
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Tooker Alley is perhaps the most underappreciated great cocktail bar in New York (although, to be honest, there's more variation between bartenders there than you'd expect at a first-rate cocktail bar). Live jazz on Mondays, too.
