All of us who have been kicking ourselves over having missed this piece's rapturously-received run in Montclair last year now have a second chance.  There are a lot of composers who explore the sonic possibilities of objects used as instruments -- but Ashley Fure is the one who seems to pay the most attention but to sheer sonic allure.  Which is not to say her pieces are mellifluous or anything like that.  They're just engaging, you might say, both in their legible structures and the way the sounds come across.  This one involves a lot of water sounds, as well as a plethora of subwoofers emitting constant tones that are below human hearing, but which the listener can nevertheless physically perceive.  The performance takes place in an environment designed by the composer's architect brother.  The piece will be performed by the superb International Contemporary Ensemble -- so youknow it will be played splendidly.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  This one's a no-brainer, on grounds of both propinquity and its STUNNING LOWER MANHATTAN VIEWS (and good food, while we're at it):  Celestine.
