It's no surprise that Esa-Pekka Salonen is the orchestra music director out of all those in the world who is best adopting to online performance. This show, kicking off his stewardship of the San Francisco Symphony, seems spectacular. The ensemble includes (among others) Julia Bullock, Pekka Kuusisto, Claire Chase, Esperanza Spalding, and Bryce Dessner. The centerpiece is a new piece by Nico Muhly expressly written for remote digital performance. There are also pieces by John Adams, Ellen Reid, and hip-hop fuser Kev Choice. And, just to remind us that this is a presentation by a mainstream orchestra, Beethoven.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Lonkero (Long Drink): pour 2 oz. Gin, 5 oz. grapefruit juice, and 1 tablespoon each of lemon juice and lime juice into a Highball glass over ice. Top with club soda.
