Pianist Adam Tendler is, quite simply, one of the most interesting musicians out there. Here, he plays some Schumann (not your compiler's favorite, to be honest) — and a brand-new piece from the last living member of the New York School of the '50s, Christian Wolff!
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: New York Sour: pour 2 oz. Rye and 1 oz. each of lemon juice and Simple Syrup into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a rocks glass over ice. Float 1/2 oz. red wine (I've always thought of Bordeaux as traditional in this drink) on top. (If you want to make it more of a straight-up sour [and are less lazy than me], add an egg white to the cocktail shaker; in that case, give the shaker a dry shake before adding ice for the final shake.)
