Another Jazz Gallery initiative, this one featuring musical segments recorded by the participating artists during the week preceding the stream, and then live chat with the artists afterward. The biggest deal tonight is the great, totally unpredictable vocalist Theo Bleckmann, never not worth hearing. Samora Pinderhughes I'm not so sure about; I never can decide whether I think his performative conception cancels singer-songwriter lameness or singer-songwriter lameness enervates his performative conception. Immanuel Wilkins is a good saxophonist and a very, very promising composer. I hope it doesn't blow my cred when I admit I don't know who Joseph Webb is — it's not the tap dancer or the quarterback.
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Maiden's Blush No. 2: pour 2 oz. Gin, 1 oz. Absinthe, and 1 teaspoon Grenadine into an ice-filled cocktail shaker, stir, and strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
