DeForrest Brown Jr. puts on his musician hat and contributes a soundtrack — a conceptual backdrop, as he calls it — to what's happening on the streets.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  Another red cocktail, the Gin-Campari Old Fashioned:  muddle a long lemon zest with 1 teaspoon each of Campari and Demerara Simple Syrup, with 3 dashes of grapefruit bitters and a pinch of salt, in a rocks glass.  Add 2 oz. Gin and a couple of ice cubs.  Stir.  Add more ice cubes.  Drink.
