Another Jazz Gallery initiative, this one featuring musical segments recorded by the participating artists during the week preceding the stream, and then live chat with the artists afterward.  This week features three particular favorites of mine:  pianists Aaron Parks (who infuses his jazz with elements of indie rock) and Dan Tepfer (who infuses his jazz with elements of classical New Music), and saxophonist Dayna Stephens, who makes post-bop sound as fresh as if were just invented.  Singer Arta Jekabsone is from Latvia.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  Another great Last Word variation (so equal parts of everything!), and probably the second greatest cocktail Sam Ross has invented (after the deathless Penicillin):  the Paper Plane.  Pour 3/4 oz. each of Bourbon, Aperol, Amaro (Nonino Quintessence by preference), and lemon juice into an ice-filled cocktail shaker, stir, and pour into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
