Billy Hart is quite simply one of the best jazz drummers now playing:  you can HEAR him think.  And what a quartet he's assembled over the past few years, all musicians almost as thoughtful and distinctive as Hart himself:  saxophonist Mark Turner, pianist Ethan Iverson, and bassist Ben Street.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  Those at home can make Smokescreens:  pour 1-1/2 oz. peaty Islay Scotch, 3/4 oz. each of lime juice and Simple Syrup (make the Simple Syrup's measure scant), and 1/4 oz. green Chartreuse into a cocktail shaker over 4 mint leaves.  Muddle.  Add ice.  Shake.  Strain into an Old Fashioned glass over ice.  Garnish with a mint sprig.  Those in the audience can try to snag a table on the NoMad Rooftop before or after the early show, or before the late show.
